After traversing along the Trans-Canada highway, make a stop at Pancake Bay Provincial Park. Swim along 3 km of fine sand shoreline but don’t be mistaken, Pancake Bay Provincial Park is more than a beach. When you hike the Pancake Bay Nature Trail and the Lookout Trail across the highway, you’ll notice parklands with mixed forest, shoreline and Precambrian rock, and all landscapes elements which Group members Harris and MacDonald frequently captured in their painting styles. The Lookout Trail offers a panoramic view overlooking the Lake Superior site where the Edmund Fitzgerald went down in a 1975 storm.
